What is the difference between air source heat pump and ground source heat pump? There are Two Kinds of HVAC Systems • Combustion-Based Systems a furnace to burn a fossil fuel (such as oil, natural gas or propane) or wood • Heat Transfer Systems transferring or moving heat from one location to another. Air-source heat pumps operate by capturing heat from outdoor air and transferring it inside of a home or business, Geo-exchange systems (GHP) capture and transfer heat from the earth. Air source heat pumps (ASHP) and ground source heat pumps (GSHP) are both types of renewable heating systems that capture heat from the environment and use it to warm up your home or business. However, ASHPs and GSHPs have different methods of extracting heat. ASHPs absorb heat from the air outside and convert it into heat for your indoor space. This system is generally more affordable and easier to install than GSHPs, but it may be less efficient during very cold weather. GSHPs extract heat from the ground or water sources, such as a nearby lake or river. This system requires a larger initial investment, but can be more efficient than ASHPs in colder climates. Additionally, GSHPs have a longer lifespan and often require less maintenance than ASHPs. Ultimately, the choice between ASHPs and GSHPs will depend on your specific needs, location, and budget. Our team at Tranquility Energy can help you evaluate your options and choose the best renewable heating system for your property.
